This blog is entitled "The Pledge," giving reference to the Pledge of Allegiance of the United States of America. The Pledge of Allegiance reads as follows:
I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
Over the course of my life, I have seen America fall more and more out of touch with this pledge. Within the past 10 years especially, I feel like the citizens of the United States of America have become more willing to pledge themselves to the newest, flashiest ideology than to the flag, the republic for which it stands, and the eternal principles it was founded on.
Furthermore, it is often forgotten today that one of the founding principles of America was that it is a nation "under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all." I plan on going into greater depth on each of these eternal truths, and on further eternal truths outlined in the founding documents of America, in future blog posts, but for now, I think it suffices to say that those values first protected in the founding documents of the United States of America are not given the appreciation they deserve.
We as a people are so blessed to live in this land, and I hope that the posts on this blog, though they may treat a variety of topics and events, can provide for each topic a point of view that is founded in a deep appreciation for and love of the United States of America.
